So this is a yarn review for Dishie by WeCrochet / Knitpicks and I wanted to review this yarn because I frickin love this stuff!
So I just wanted to talk about it for a few minutes so that you guys… if you’ve been following me, you’ll notice that I’ve been using this yarn quite a bit lately and for my last several patterns because I finally tried it and I just adore it.
This is a 100% cotton yarn. They have three variants (Solid, Twist and Multi.)
They’re 100 gram skeins. The solids are $2.99 standard price and these go up to $3.99 (the Twist and Multi.)
So it’s very similarly to, you’re probably familiar with, Lily Sugar n Cream. It’s similar in skein size and similar in standard pricing.
But I think that the Dishie is superior and I’m going to tell you why.
Basics on Dishie Yarn
Let’s start with the basic stats.
190y / 100g
30 colors in Solid
12 colors in Twist
18 colors in Multi
It is a #4 Worsted Weight
The recommended hook size is I-K.
I actually really like to use a 4mm, I tend to use smaller hooks in general. But I’ve gone down, thus far, to a 3.5 mm with this yarn. So, you know, just bear that in mind.
It’s machine wash cold, tumble dry low.
Ok so this is a 4 ply and if you look at this, it is just super smooth. It’s a really tight twist. This stuff is really smooth on the hands. If you use a lot of cotton yarns, you know that a lot times they can just be really really rough on your hands. But this one is not. It is so nice to work with.
The KnitPicks reviews on this yarn…they had a couple thousand reviews and I’m pretty sure they had 5 stars or very close to it.
Dishie is super smooth
In the video, I give you a comparison against Lily Sugar n Cream yarn. Lily Sugar n Cream, it’s also 4ply, it’s a little bit rougher, a little bit thicker. When you look at the two yarns together, you can tell Dishie is just a much tighter twist and a much smoother fiber. The difference working with these two yarns is just exponential
The Sugar n Cream is a good sturdy fallback. You can use it for everything, I think that it obviously still has it’s place. But this Dishie yarn is way too similar and way too comparable in price to not use, especially considering it’s easier on the hands.
I’m so excited that I started using this cotton yarn instead of the Sugar n Cream, so I hope that you’ll check it out. I think that you’ll be very very pleased.
The colors are gorgeous…the saturation on Dishie yarns is fantastic. I’ve always found Sugar n Cream to look kind of faded and that has it’s uses, but I love the saturation of the Dishie yarns.
So yeah, I highly recommend that you give it a shot. I think that you will find it to be very affordable and totally just way way better on your hands. I can’t sing it’s praises enough for that reason. It’s so nice on my hands and I use cotton yarn constantly.
Dishie yarn stitch definition
In the video I worked up a swatch and discussed it a bit more, but you can see the swatch in the pic. I think this yarn has wonderful stitch definition!
So yep, give it a shot!
Dishie…they have twist, they have multi, tons of amazing colors. That’s on Knitpicks or WeCrochet, whichever one you prefer to shop. It is my new favorite 100% cotton yarn.
